Magnus Logi Kristinsson, Iceland

Magnús Logi Kristinsson, Finland / Iceland

Born in 1975, lives and works in Helsinki.

Magnús Logi Kristinsson studied at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam where he discovered the wonderful art of making performances and received Bachelor of Arts degree and then continued for the Masters of Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Helsinki. After he moved to Finland he has dedicated his art to performances only.

His work evolves around the notion of 'presence'. The precence of the 'things in this world', and not in the least: the presence of Magnus Logi Kristinsson himself. The act of 'list-reading', that he has refined trough years of thorough study, is focused at rearticulating the obvious, mentioning the unnoticed, and proclaiming the already known.

Kristinsson is focused on making List performances as well as durational performances where he often blends in with the public. He reads lists of words in various ways. His works are minimalistic and poetic, and sometimes touches upon the absurd using processes of détournement  in the sense of Guy Debord.  Kristinsson has been creating solo performances since 1999. From 2005 to 2007 he was performing  with the interdisciplinary performance group Oblivia . Kristinsson has presented his works throughout Europe and in the United States, and in China at Guangzhou Live 3.
